Today is an exciting day at the construction site for Reserve at West Goshen! We arrived just around noon to a ton of activity and all hands on deck. Structural engineers, super intendent's, foreman's, project manager's and us (haha). What's all the action about you may ask? CONCRETE! Yes, the concrete was flowing and we were excited! The experts may have more to say about this topic than me, but suffice it to say that a foundation footer is perhaps one of the most critical aspects of the house. It’s almost always the first building element that contacts the earth or soil that the house rests upon. Footings and foundations are to homes as to what feet and legs are to the human body. The primary purpose of the footer is to spread out the weight of the structure across a larger footprint than the foundation would if it were in direct contact with the earth. Pretty exciting stuff! So 30 trucks and 300 yards of concrete later, we have a solid foundation for our first 5 units!
